The weather has been out of control beautiful here. I thought I would use the heat to do all my painting projects that were on hold throughout the cold, but instead I’ve been using it to build my super sexy/sultry tan. Jk. I’m the whitest gal ever, but I really have been enjoying the sun at the pool with my little water children.
My mom came to visit last week and in anticipation of her arrival, I finally kicked my own butt into finishing some projects. Like painting our dining table. Yesssss. Burden off my shoulders now that it is complete. The yellow was literally killing me. It was way too much in the tiny room that is shared with our living room, kitchen, and entry. And it had been dented and scratched up from the move. Total hot mess. And now…ooooh weee…it makes mama happy.
I used Clark + Kensington paint, as recommended by my Ace Hardware store. I went with high gloss, naturally. They told me its like cabinet paint so its really durable and would do well on a dining table. It’s paint and primer so I just lightly sanded the yellow down and gave the table two pretty coats. I didn’t even have to poly it which is awesome since last time I painted the table, I thought I was going to die from poly fumes. It was intense. I’m pretty sure this will be my new go-to paint for furniture. It’s legit.
To complete our dining room, I painted a chalkboard wall, stenciled the chalkboard wall, switched out the light fixture, painted the table, and accessorized.
I pretty much stayed true to our original dining room plan. It’s starting to feel like home. And home is so good.
